Large electronic devices banned from cabins on UK-bound flights

aircraft-1614805_1920The Government has introduced a ban on large electronic devices being taken by passengers into aircraft cabins, as carry-on luggage, on all flights incoming from the following six countries:

  • Turkey
  • Lebanon
  • Jordan
  • Egypt
  • Tunisia
  • Saudi Arabia

Staff travelling outside of the UK on University business should be aware that this ban may affect any flights that are transiting through the named countries (e.g.Istanbul Ataturk Airport). Please take advice from your travel agent or airline before departing.

The University’s insurers have issued a useful guidance note on this change – AIG Aviation Electronics Regulations.

Please remember that it is a University requirement to complete the online Travel Overseas Form if you are travelling outside the UK on University business. Failure to do so may invalidate your travel insurance.
