The International Office, in collaboration with various departments and student societies across the University, has put together a month-long programme of events for students and staff that celebrates the cultural diversity we have here at the University of Portsmouth.
This is a brilliant opportunity to experience the wide variety of people and cultures at Portsmouth, so don’t miss out!
Events include public lectures, Global Working events at Purple Door, an African drumming workshop, a language exchange café, a coach trip to Longleat Safari Park, sporting events including a Futsal World Cup and more!
There will also be a week-long menu of specials from around the world in the University catering outlets – The Hub, St Andrew’s Court and Café Coco. You’ll be able to try out these worldwide specialities starting on 20 March.
Festival of Cultures
One of the main highlights of the Global Month will be the ninth annual Festival of Cultures, held on Wednesday 22 March in 3rd Space, Students’ Union, from 5.30pm to 9.00 pm.
At this exhibition style event you will be able to sample food from different parts of the world, get a henna tattoo and chat to our brilliant international students about their cultures. You will also be able to see dance performances from countries across the world, including the Dominican Republic, Bulgaria, Vietnam, Nepal, Iran and Malaysia. Staff and students are invited to wear their national dress to this event and bring their family and friends to join in the fun.
This event is always hugely popular, so please come along and share in the experience! You don’t need to book your place to attend, but check out the Facebook event to remind yourself and spread the word to your family and friends!
Please note that this is a non-alcoholic event.
