Occupational Health have arranged for a Physiotherapist from Solent NHS Occupational Health Service to run a staff workshop on back care awareness. This session is particularly aimed at those employees who have manual handling or repetitive tasks as part of their role, such as those working in:
- Campus Services
- University Library
- Sport & Recreation
- University Nursery
- Marketing & Communications (some areas)
There will be a small element of the session which will address working with Display Screen Equipment (DSE).
This workshop is open to all staff whether they have any existing health conditions or are interested in preventing any problems occurring.
The Physiotherapist will look at care of the complete spine including the neck and the effects that problems might have on other areas of the body.
The session will involve theory, practical and group work elements and aims to be an interactive workshop.
Prior to attending delegates should have completed an up to date Display Screen Equipment online training and risk assessment and also Manual Handling training if appropriate for their work; http://www.port.ac.uk/departments/services/humanresources/healthandsafety/training/
