Brain Tumour Research has a dedicated Research Centre of Excellence at the University of Portsmouth. Due to this important partnership, the Department of Sport and Recreation have worked year-on-year to help raise funds for this worthy cause. Over the last nine years, we’ve helped to raise £9655.68 in total!
On Thursday 30 March*, we would like everyone at the University of Portsmouth to wear a hat to class or work and make a donation in aid of Brain Tumour Research. All the Sport and Recreation staff will be wearing silly hats to encourage you – and that includes our class instructors too!
How can you get involved?
- Attending a sports class? Work up a sweat in your silliest hat – our instructors will be doing the same! You can make a donation at the end of the session for a great cause.
- Take a post-workout hat selfie using our photo booth in Spinnaker Sports Centre – the best selfie will win a prize!
- Wear a hat to university or work – with approval of course – and be sure to make a donation!
You can make your donation online by clicking here, or donation buckets will be available on the day in both reception areas and with class instructors.

*Please note that although ‘Wear A Hat Day’ is recognised as Friday 31 March, we will be hosting our event on Thursday 30 March.
