The Chancellor’s Dinner 2016: 4 March 2016

The Chancellor’s Dinner, to be held on Friday 4 March 2016 at Portsmouth Guildhall, is open to all students and alumni and will be the third of its kind.16_New_Sandi_Photo_3

Sandi Toksvig, University Chancellor, hosts this event and believes it ‘gives our current students and our alumni the opportunity to take part in an elegant occasion in the splendour of the Guildhall, to meet each other and network and share stories.’

Sandi’s special guest for the evening and joining her on stage will be personal friend, journalist and broadcaster John McCarthy CBE. John worked as a journalist after leaving university. His life dramatically changed when in 1986 he was abducted on his first foreign assignment by Islamic Fundamentalists and held hostage for 1,943 days. During this time his family and friends fought to keep his plight in the public eye. John managed to overcome physical and mental torture, self-doubt and despair.

This black tie dinner promises to be an entertaining and inspiring evening. We would therefore ask that you encourage your students to come along and benefit from the discounted student ticket price of £25 which includes canapés, a two course meal and drinks. Unfortunately, due to capacity, tickets are not on general sale to staff unless you are an alumnus of the University.
